Youngster jailed because stabbing 17-year-old to death over £90 cycle
Danny Drake, 16, have to stay in prison at least 13 years for murdering Alim Uddin and trying to hide the evidence.
A 16-year-old who confessed stabbing another kid to death repeatedly because of the deal of a £90 bicycle has been given a life prison term.
Danny Drake knifed Alim Uddin no more then seven times at a block of houses in Brixton, south London, on 4 May.
Alim choose to meet Danny to ask the money back after passing over £90 for a bicycle the accused did not deliver, the court heard.
Sentencing him on Tuesday, Judge Stephen Kramer ordered Danny to serve at least 13 years in jail.
Previously, David Jeremy QC, prosecuting, told the court: “This offender stabbed Alim Uddin to death. The main reason, if there could be a reason, was that Alim Uddin had given the defendant £90 to buy a bicycle from him.
“Danny Drake didn’t supply the bike and he did not offer his money back so the two of them planned to meet so, as Alim Uddin comprehended it, he might be paid. He was furious that the offender had ripped him off. There were on both sides expressions of youthful bravado but nothing that suggested it would lead to a killing.
Danny Drake will start the sentence next week.
